What is the best way to germinate cannabis seeds?
This article explains how to properly germinate your cannabis seeds, from optimal temperatures to potting your seedlings and transferring them outdoors (or indoors under light).
The best way to sprout cannabis seeds just requires two saucers or plates and some damp tissue. Here is a step-by-step guide.
Unfortunately, the regulation and implementation of cannabis seeds often differ from country to country. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you inquire about the regulations that you are subject to. Read the full disclaimer here.
Step 1. The facility – How to germinate cannabis seeds
Line the bottom of the first panel with a few layers of damp cloth and drain excess water from the panel.
Seeds should be placed on the fabric so that each seed has as much space as possible.
Put a few more layers of moist tissue on top of the seeds to allow excess water to drain away.
Finally, cover everything with the second plate on top of the head to form a clamshell shape. This creates the dark, moist environment necessary for germination.
Step 2. Germination – How to germinate cannabis seeds
Put the plates in a warm place (21 ° C) and away from direct light.
Check the seeds every day to make sure the tissues aren’t drying out. If necessary, spray the fabric with water.
Within a few days, some or all of the seeds should open and expel a root. It is common for cannabis seeds to open within 72 hours of being introduced into the germination medium. Less often, some seeds take up to 10 days or even two weeks to open and remove a root.
When the first millimeters of root emerged from a germinated seed, everyone should be careful Transfer to a small container with growth medium (earth, coconut fiber or rock wool).
Step 3. Potting – How to germinate cannabis seeds
Make a hole in the growth medium about twice as deep as the seed’s length so that each sprouted cannabis seed sits 2-5mm below the surface.
Place the cannabis seed in the hole root first and cover it with a small amount of growing medium – just enough to block the light, not enough to prevent the seedling from emerging.
Cannabis seedlings usually emerge from the growing medium 24 to 72 hours after the germinated seeds are planted.
Step 4. The seedling stage – How to germinate cannabis seeds
New seedlings should have access to bright light from the moment they appear. Care should be taken for the first week or two as the seedlings are still very delicate.
Outdoor seedlings should be accustomed to direct sunlight by placing them on an indoor windowsill and increasing direct sunlight by an hour or two per day.
Indoor seedlings can easily get into an artificially lit environment. When using HID lighting, the seedlings should be kept a minimum of 50 to 80 cm from the light bulb. When using fluorescent light, the seedlings can be kept a normal distance from the tube / lightbulb.
Cannabis growing laws and regulations differ from country to country. Sensi Seeds therefore strongly recommends that you check local laws and regulations. Do not act contrary to the law.
